Richard's ability as a War Wizard

When Zedd,Ann and Nathan tried to check the Chainfire spell with the help,from the inside,of Nicci Richard found out that he could read the spells as a symbol series and found a terrible thing, the Chimes, even if he sent them in the underworld, leave the taint in the magic and now the wizards are loosing their magics. Even if he didn't understand what his friends were doing he find the error in the Chainfire spell that allow only some people remeber Kahlan and when this error was find out it was killing Nicci but Richard with his own magic saved her. His friends were amazing because they didn't find anything wrong in the spell or at least they didn't know how was the true spell made and first they didin't believe Richard's words but after they understood their mistakes.
Why did Richard know exactly what are the mistakes in the spell????? Please post your opinions about that

the one thing that helped richard -- the symbols -- which in part described the dance with death which in turn are the edict of a war wizard... i believe he learned to understand those symbols because he is the true seeker and therefore became almost one with the sword of truth...

Yes it's correct in part, this is valid for the symbols of death dance. But the others are totally unknown to him so why he can "read" them???? If I don't know the alphabet I can't read a word

i need to go back and reread parts of phantom... i believe he give an explanation in that book...

Excellent.... ahahah... Anyway I have to tell you that the competition is already finished.... I've just re-read Phantom and the only explanation wrote is that he's always known them (I think it's a particularity of his gift)

he's always known them? it sounds a bit strange to me... i thought that many of the war wizard symbols were the same as the ones from the sword of truth... the seeker... the dance with death applies to both the seeker and a war wizard... i think he was able to decipher the other symbols because of all the ones he learned as the seeker and war wizard... like a language... once you learn the alphabet you can learn to read...

yes but at least in italian traslation Richard say this to explain the same to his friends:"It's like I've always known them"

so i have invented the expression to go take a chill pill
which then means go cool off, take a hold of your temper, calm down, and then come back and talk

Yes we were talking about the symbols in Chainfire spell that he had explained to the others

it also seems to me that some of the symbols flow from one into the other making it easier understand their meaning... but i might be wrong -- so many times i am...

Can be possible that He knew them cause they are described in the "book of counted shadows"???
